Padel grip tapes for optimal grip

The Padel racket forms the heart of your equipment and determines success or failure on the pitch and therefore also the fun of the game. To get the most out of your racket and adapt it optimally to your needs, you should think about the grips. Because the handle is the part of the padel racket with which your hand is constantly in contact.

That's why it's important to choose the padel grip tape carefully and replace it regularly. Grip tapes have a significant impact on playing comfort, precision and control. They absorb the moisture from your hands, absorb vibrations and prevent blisters from forming. Above all, a good grip tape ensures that your padel racket fits perfectly in your hand. A general distinction is made between two types of padel grips:

To ensure that your racket maintains optimal grip, you should replace the base grip and overgrip regularly.

Padel basic grips

The basic grip tape - also called basic grip - is usually attached to the handle of your padel racket at the factory. It serves to allow the racket to fit perfectly in the hand and dampens a large part of the vibrations caused when the ball hits the ball. The padel base grip tape therefore reduces the impact shock and thus protects the arm. In addition, basic grips absorb sweat, so that the grip stays dry even during longer matches and remains firmly in the hand.

Basic grips are significantly stronger than overgrips and last longer. Nevertheless, you should replace the padel base grip tape regularly. How long it lasts depends on how often and intensively you play. For example, if you go to the padel court twice a week for one to two hours, you should change the basic grip twice a year.

Padelover grips

Many players wrap an additional band around the handle, the Padelovergrip. This allows you to adapt the grip strength even more individually to the hitting hand and noticeably increase the playing comfort of the racket. Padelover grips are also much easier to replace than basic grips. They provide additional cushioning and sweat absorption. You also protect the basic grip of your padel racket. If the handle of your racket is too thin for you, you can adjust it to fit your hand with an overgrip. Some even wrap multiple overgrips around the handle to get the desired strength.

In terms of features and materials, the selection of Padelovergrips is very large. Some absorb sweat particularly effectively, others impress with their exceptionally good grip. Since overgrips are finer than basic grips and are constantly in direct contact with the skin, they last shorter. How often it should be changed depends not only on how often you play, but also on the material. At the latest when you notice that the playing comfort or the grip of your padel over grip have significantly decreased, it is time for a change.
